Independent Reading Project

I. Divide a duotang into sections:
A. Picture Books
    1. should be at least 10 entries
    2. include any annotations you’ve written
B. Folklore
    1. should be at least 5 entries
    2. include any annotations you’ve written
C. Novels
    1. should be at least 10 entries
    2. include any annotations you’ve written
D. Nonfiction
    1. should be at least 5 entries
    2. include any annotations you’ve written
E. Browsing
    1. anything you’ve browsed through
    2. include any annotations you’ve written

F. Bonus: any notes you have taken for a literary project may be put into a clear pocket

II. Bibliographic Format

A. Entries
    1. Use this format:
            Author’s last name, first name. Title. City of Publication, Publisher, year of copyright.
    2. If you need to use a second line, indent by three spaces.

B. Overall organization
    1. List the entries in alphabetical order by the author’s last
        name.  If you have more than one book by the same
        author, group them together but put them in alphabetical
        order within the group using the title.
    2. Put your bibliographies in the order shown on the other
         side.
    3. Make sure you start with a cover page that shows the following
        information: your full name, your division, a title – Term
        Two Independent Reading

C. Note that not all books are expected to have annotations or book responses! If you handed in your weekly bibliographies during the term, you should already have enough read and enough written. Now you are simply making a polished presentation of all the reading you did this term.
