Rocks and Minerals (DK Publishing, 2008) tells about all the different types of rocks. The earth is one huge rock and so are the other planets in the solar system. There are three types of rocks: igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks and metamorphic rocks. Igneous rocks are rocks formed from volcanoes. Sedimentary rocks form when other rocks combine, in a current of water for example. Lastly, metamorphic rocks form from old rocks, but they don’t multiply like mushrooms. This book also says that cavemen long ago smashed rocks into tiny pieces, into a type of ground-up chalk, and used the dust to make cave paintings. I say this book is interesting and fascinating.
